MIFF In The Morning, a winter cinema project of the Maine International Film Festival, will present HUEY: The Evolution of a Maine Filmmaker, on March 21 and 22. The special program features the works of Huey, one of the state's best-known filmmakers and educators.

If you have been involved in Maine's film community, you know Huey. The Maine Film Commission's Award for Exceptional Contributions in Film and Education in Maine that Huey received in 2002 is called "the Huey Award". He has helped nurture young filmmakers for decades. He is best-known to MIFF audiences as the long-time director of the Maine Student Film and Video Festival. But he also has an impressive filmography that includes Wilderness and Spirit: A Mountain Called Katahdin, Tony Montanaro: Theatre & Inspiration, Bonsoir Mes Amis (Goodnight My Friends), and other documentary works.

Huey will show clips from some of his past work as well as clips from a work-in-progress: In Good Time: The Piano Jazz of Marian McPartland. McPartland is known as the hostess of her own radio show where she reminisces and performs with some of the all-time best jazz musicians.

Huey may also provide an update on Salt Hay, a film drama and collaborative effort from some of Maine's best film talent.

HUEY: The Evolution of a Maine Filmmaker will be presented on March 21 and 22 beginning at 10 a.m. It will be held at Railroad Square Cinema, 17 Railroad Square in Waterville.Tickets are available at the door on the day of the show for $7.50 each. For more information call 207-873-4021
