Alleluia Junction comes to Rockland
06/29/2010
A midcoast community choir, comprised of the Down East Singers and the Bowdoin Chorus, journeys the length of Siberia to the Russian Far East, including the Trans-Siberian Railway, in time to celebrate the 4th of July with warm hosts and a new understanding of what it means to be an American and a citizen of the world.Reflecting the choir’s magical experience on the Trans-Siberian Railway (portrayed in the film), the day begins with a vintage train ride from Brunswick to Rockland, Maine. Maine Eastern Railroad will sponsor the romantic Parlor Car, which will serves as an even car for a "sing-along" with the choir members. Upon arriving at the train station restaurant, riders will be treated to historical archival train footage provided by Maine-based Northeast Historic Film. The day continues in Rockland at 1:30 p.m. with a free public screening of Alleluia Junction at the beautifully restored Strand Theatre. A free reception will follow at the gallery of North Haven artist Eric Hopkins. The film’s musicians will perform four pieces. A Dana Rae Warren/Moody Mountain Media production. Free screening. Reception follows at Eric Hopkins Gallery. To ride in Maine Eastern Railroad's parlor car to Rockland and sing with the singers, contact RideTheTrain@moodymountain.com.
